William (“Bill”) Pollak is the founder of Itineris Financial Advisors. Bill started the firm as a result of his personal experience with career change and other notable mid-life transitions. Over time, as he met others seeking to define the next chapter of their lives, he was inspired to form a financial advisory practice focused on serving the needs of entrepreneurs and executives embarking on new professional and personal paths and seeking to feel secure about their financial future.
Prior to entering the financial advisory profession, Bill enjoyed a successful, 25-year career in the enterprise software industry. After feeling underserved as a client of various advisory firms over the years, he concluded that there was an unmet need to offer a more professional and personalized level of financial planning and investment management services. That observation, combined with his desire to help others in a highly personalized and consultative fashion, led to the beginning of his own journey five years ago from the field of enterprise software to the founding of Itineris Financial Advisors.
Serving others as a financial advisor had become his professional dream over the years, but his path included its own transitions, unexpected detours and speed bumps. These included navigating the financial effects of three events that occurred virtually simultaneously: the 2008-2009 global financial crisis and its impact on his personal finances, the end of his 19-year marriage, and helping his mother through sudden changes in her health status that affected her ability to continue living independently. Bill learned how to manage through these coincident events, remain an involved father to his three sons, and stay on track to attain his long-term financial goals, while establishing success in his chosen profession.
Bill’s professional experience includes financial advisory roles at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in Walnut Creek, CA and at Ginsburg Financial Advisors in Oakland, CA. Bill attended the University of California, Davis where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He has also earned with distinction the Certificate in Personal Financial Planning from UC Berkeley, a comprehensive academic curriculum that addresses the modern principles and best practices of the financial planning profession. Bill holds the Series 7, 66, and 31 securities registrations through LPL Financial, along with the State of California Life and Health, Variable Annuities and Long Term Care licenses.
Bill is a Bay Area native, born and raised in San Francisco. He now resides in the East Bay with his three sons where he actively serves the community. Bill volunteers his time as a panelist at the San Francisco Job Forum, a volunteer organization that helps professionals in career transition intelligently plan and conduct their job finding campaign.
